On the appointed day, Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.” Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. But the word of God continued to increase and spread. (Acts 12:21-24 NIV)
Prayer: LORD, some people arrogantly boast and take credit for gifts and abilities You have given them. Expose any proud notions that may be lurking in my thinking. Enable me to quickly confess them to You and expel them from my mind. I surrender all that I am to You in humility, acknowledging that all I am and have come from You. Help me to make it so. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
