When I looked, I saw that you had sinned against the LORD your God; you had made for yourselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way the LORD had commanded you. So I took the two tablets and threw them out of my hands, breaking them to pieces before your eyes. At that time, the LORD said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also, make a wooden chest. The LORD wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the LORD gave them to me. (Deu 9:16-17, 10:1,4 NIV)
Prayer: LORD, thank You for second chances. Help me never lose hope for the future because of regret for past failures. You can restore what I have broken and give me another opportunity to fulfill the responsibility You placed in my hands. No matter how many times I fail, in You, there is always hope for restoration and a second chance. Thank You for my next ‘second chance.’ In Jesus’ name, Amen.
