A new minister was walking with an older, more seasoned minister in the garden one day.

Feeling a bit insecure about God’s plan for him, the young minister was asking the older preacher for some advice.

The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud, and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and ministry.

But because of his great respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact.

It wasn’t long before he realized how impossible this was to do. Noticing the younger preacher’s inability to unfold the rosebud without tearing it, the older preacher began to recite the following poem:

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God’s design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
God opens this flower so easily,
But in my hands they die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God’s design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So I’ll trust in God for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to God for guidance
In each step of the way.

The path that lies before me,
Only my Lord knows.
I’ll trust God to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

Amazingly, this message and the poem have both come to me at a time of great challenges in my life. I had done a novena hoping I’ll get the answers I want from God. I had began deeply wondering what might be going on and why have my answers not come. God has spoken to me right now through this message and I am confident again .

Lord, I thank you for my life. Because I am so human, I am so impatient for your plan for me to come through at your own time. Forgive me lord for this and all my sins. Grant me the grace to know you and to have faith in you every moment of my life in Jesus name I pray! Amen!

    Thank you Jesus!

This message reminds me of Proverbs3:5-6; Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path. God our creator leads us to where He wants us to be of service to Him, if we just put our trust in Him, even though the path we are walking on doesn’t always seem to make sense. God’s ways are not our ways. God will direct our path in His own time and in His divine wisdom.

A great reminder to trust GOD moment by moment to reveal HIS will for our lives. Yet, at the same time, it does not preclude us from praying and seeking to know HIS will and plan for our lives. Just as the rosebud opens as it matures so does the revelation of GOD’s will and plan for our lives open as our relationship with HIM grows and matures.

If you are trying to find the future for your life and don’t know God plan for you stop now and read this poem.
Our future is in God’s hands not ours.
