My husband and I love to hike and try to find different places where we have never hiked before.
One time, we were trying to follow what was supposed to be marked path and somehow lost the markings. We ended up turning around and going back the way we came so we wouldn’t get completely lost in a large state forest. It was easy to lose the path, because it was not very well marked; the ground vegetation was gone, so the path was not as easy to find as in the summer months.
We can get sidetracked and follow something that we think is a good path in our spiritual lives as well and end up far away from where we first started. When that happens, we need to stop and turn around so that we don’t get “lost” in the distractions and pitfalls that have been placed before us.
To get back to where we were before, we have to go back the direction from whence we came. If we are not careful, even if we do not stray off the path we can trip on the roots of this life, stumble, and maybe fall.
God’s Word tells us that the path...
