I must confess that I love dessert. I especially love bread pudding.

So when dinner is over and my wife tells me to keep my fork, I sit in anticipation of the delight that’s about to come.

In the Dutch section of Indiana, there was a man named Billy Brown. He was a godly man who always helped others and loved telling them how they could know Jesus. Everyone in the community loved Billy.

When he was diagnosed with a terminal illness, he gave specific instructions for his service. He wanted an open casket, and he wanted a fork placed in his hand. His wife and family knew what that meant.

When people asked about the fork, his family simply replied, “Billy just wanted you to know that he’s having dessert now.”

Billy understood that for every Christian, the best is yet to be—the joy and delight of the coming glory of our home in Heaven!

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus.
