I’ve never made a fortune
and it’s probably too late now.
But I don’t worry about that much,
I’m happy anyhow.

And as I go along life’s way,
I’m reaping better than I sowed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

I don’t have a lot of riches,
and sometimes the going’s tough.
But I’ve got loved ones around me,
and that makes me rich enough.

I thank God for his blessings,
and the mercies He’s bestowed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
’cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
and the sun peeped through again.

So God, help me not to gripe about
the tough rows that I’ve hoed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage,
when the way grows steep and rough.
I’ll not ask for other blessings,
I’m already blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy,
to help others bear their loads.
Then I’ll keep drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

This poem was written by my dad, John Moore, several years ago and published in a small book of poems he wrote. IF anyone wants more information about Dad or his poems they can reach me at [email protected] We hear from people all over the world about how the poem has blessed them.

Bless your dad. I first heard this many years ago on tv when Jimmy Dean, of all people, read it on the Crook*Chase show on the Nashville network. It reminded me of my own sweet Christian daddy so I wrote it down and read it at his 50th birthday party. Over the years it has very much become my theology, if you will!!!

    Blessed is the one
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
    2 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit.

When all your sins are forgiven and you’re looking forward to spend eternity with the King of Kings in a wondrous place where there’ll be no more tears, sorrow, pain or death ,Indeed your cup is overflowing.
    Glory be to God

This came at the right time for me. I too have been through much, yet come out the other side a better person for it. All of the trials He has seen me through have made me who I am and praise to God that I am becoming a better men daily. Now I find myself once again facing a pretty big obstacle in life but know that through Jesus, God’s strength is working in me to beat it and become stronger than I am now.
Thank you for reminding me to again be thankful for the trials which shape me.
