More than 90 years ago, the state of South Dakota commissioned a sculptor named Gutzon Borglum to select a mountain in that state where he could sculpt some figures from the Old West as a tourist attraction.

But instead, Borglum sculptured the faces of four presidents on what we all know today as Mount Rushmore.

The workers used dynamite to form the faces from the granite, then they polished, and sanded, and scraped until the images were refined.

That is what God, in Christ, does to us to conform us to the image of His Son.

When we come to faith in Christ, God begins to blast and to move, to sand and to shape and polish us so we will have something of the image of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in our personalities, in our character, and in our daily walk.

Because He loves us and wants us to spend eternity with Him, He shapes us so we will become more Christ-like now, and to prepare us for glory forever and forever.
